Labrabull: The Powerful and Affectionate Fido

What is a Labrabull?

A Labrabull is a cross between an American Pit Bull Terrier and a Labrador Retriever. Other names for this pooch are Pitador, Labrador-Pit Bull Mix, Pitbull Lab Mix or a Lab-Pitbull Mix. Just like both of its parents, the Labrabull is a big-sized pooch. They can have the lifespan of 10-14 years just like most dogs of the same size.

The Labrabull is a powerful yet affectionate dog breed, having a protective nature. This breed has some things in common with the Mastadors probably inheriting from its Labrador Retriever parent. Oozing with enthusiasm, this breed can sometimes get aggressive. But, with proper socialization, the Labrabull can be a well-rounded pooch who will only react when the situation calls for it.

What does a Labrabull look like?

A Labrabull may weigh 45 to 90 pounds with a height of around 24 inches. They have short coats like both of its parents and its colors would depend on which gene was passed on from its parents. It has a wide head having the ear of the Labrador and the powerful body of the Pit Bull. The Labrabull’s eyes are almond shaped and they also have a long tail.

A Labrabull is a fairly energetic, alert, and protective dog. It is an intelligent dog and is moderately easy to train as long as you’ve established dominance over it. Labrabulls like to chew on things so make sure to get it something to chew on otherwise you might find yourself replacing a lot of things at home. They have this sweet nature and can suffer from separation anxiety if left alone for a very long period of time.

An adult Labrabull’s characteristics can be foreseen when it’s still a puppy. Knowing these things may help you handle the pooch well while it’s still young. Look out for the traits it inherited from its parents.

It may get the playful and dominant behavior of the Pit Bull or the laid back and sweet temperament of the Labrador. Obedience training is highly recommended to keep it from being stubborn. Doing so at an early stage would make it easier compared to when it has already established dominance.

However, the Labrabull can be aggressive too when they feel like its owner is being threatened. On the contrary, they also have a sweet and affectionate side and will love to snuggle with their owner from time to time.

Since they are a mixed breed they may inherit some of their parent’s health issues. These health concerns may include hypothyroidism, eye problems, ear infections, heart problems, joint dysplasia epilepsy, myopathy, allergies, acute moist dermatitis, cold tail, and bloating.

These risks can be lessened or avoided if you choose to get the dog from a responsible breeder so make sure to choose rightly where to get one. If it comes to a point wherein it still got one of those health issues have a vet look at it to avoid worsening the case.
